I started woodturning in 2003 when I was invited to attend the woodturning symposium in Pasadena and have been hooked ever since!
I joined the Inland Woodturners Club and was president 2009 and 2010. I worked at Rockler Woodworking in Ontario Mills, and while there did numerous demos of woodturning, branching out to other aspects of woodworking.
The display tables that are in the Mountain Arts Gallery, I also made by hand but are not for sale. Personally, I like the challenge of studying a piece of wood, mounting it on the lathe, and creating a new piece of art. My Canvas is wood and that can be challenging, as most of the time arriving at a final shape, though occasionally that doesn't happen, so a design change does.
My favorite pieces are natural edge with the bark still attached and glued pieces are also a fun challenge for me. Always wanting to try new things, hopefully this year I will be able to do that! My shop is my sanctuary, and I'm at peace making sawdust.
