2021 was a whirlwind. With everything happening it was hard to keep my mind on work.

I had to leave my gallery in New Mexico, move back to California and try and keep working even while galleries were shutting down. In retrospect, when thinking back on all this, there were moments when revisiting what I have been doing the last 40 years, I realized I had become static. Stale. During this dismal period, I felt I was in survival mode and not thinking creatively.

But the thing I notice now, the thing I discovered, was I needed to grow. Everything around me had changed and I had to change as well.

Change, of any kind, is difficult. We get comfortable and become complacent doing the same things. I decided to try something new and completely different and scary. Create a new style of painting. It was not easy. But with time and determination and exploration, it became reality.

Also and more importantly, I had to continue teaching. Having to show others what you know is a marvelous technique for personal growth.

Below are some of the results in this new style. I hope you like it.
