Lynn’s journey into pottery all started with a birthday gift, a single pottery class that turned into an interest, which evolved into a passion and finally a second career.
As a child, It was no surprise to anyone that Lynn was going to be a chef. She stated it matter of factly to her father after watching PBS cooking shows one Saturday afternoon. Fueled by the genius of other well known chefs: Jacques Pepin, Martin Yan and the goddess herself, Julia Child; and the desire to not compete with her wildly artistic family, she threw herself in the creative pursuit of cooking for nearly 20 years, followed by a further 7 years in the vast world of Wine and Spirits.
One birthday, after noticing her borderline obsession with pottery videos on YouTube, Lynn’s wonderful husband bought her a single wheel-throwing class. After only a few minutes on the wheel, she was hooked with a capitol “H”. She quickly signed up for more and more classes and started learning all she could; from wheel-throwing to hand-building, large pieces to tiny beads, and even to hollow donut planters. That single class evolved from a hobby into a dream and finally into a small business.
As a ceramic artist, Lynn works mostly in Stoneware clay, which she loves for its versatility and range in color and texture. With this medium, she utilizes a variety of techniques, such as wheel-throwing, hand-building, painting and sgraffito. However, she absolutely loves falling back on her experience as a Pastry Chef, working with fondant and sugar paste, to create highly detailed wedding cakes. With this, she creates nature-inspired sculptural pieces and functional housewares that capture brief moments in time.
