Born in Long Beach, CA. Sondra James received an Associate of Arts degree, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance and a Masters in Business Administration. Minoring in Costuming, she began working with watercolors for the costume renderings. She was always interested in Art, winning a 1st place prize in Elementary school while in Kindergarten.Attending a pre-school of the arts, she began her career in dance attending The Royal Academy of Dance and received her teaching certification from London, England. On stage at the age of 3, she danced in 4 Ballet Companies including The Royal Ballet, The International Ballet, Ballet Gala and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Ballet. Later, she began teaching and opened The Ballet Conservatory in San Diego along with The South Bay Junior Ballet Company.
After retiring, she had more time for her art and her fundraising work. She sews Boo Boo Bears for the Hospital Auxiliary, created the Arrowhead Cookie Cutters and key Chains for the Arrowhead Arts Association and the Blue Jay window ornaments for The Women's Club Blue Jay Parade.She finds watercolors exciting and challenging and loves oil for their rich luscious colors.
She enjoys the comradery and artistic exchanges with fellow artists at the Art Gallery, making many new wonderful friends.She has written 2 books and also enjoys swimming laps and wishes she had more time to play golf!
