Michael Bates

Michael Bates won "1st Place" in the Photography category at the 2006
"Lake Arrowhead Rotary Art & Wine Festival".

His winning entry was one of the wonderful wild wolves of Yellowstone National Park.  These wolves are elusive and difficult to see up close making this a very special shot indeed.  If you love wolves this image is a must see.

Congratulations Mike!

Michael Bates'  interest in photography came at an early age. When, in the 6th grade he got his first camera for Christmas. After taking photography in highschool and seeing  his first print come to life in the darkroom he knew then that this was his artistic calling. He shot his first wedding while still in high school and still does weddings and portraiture. Michael spent 12 years in the United States Air Force as a Crew Chief on the KC-135 aircraft but still kept polishing his skills as a photographer.

Michael enjoys all types of photography from digital art to family portraits but, really enjoys shooting wildlife and scenic images. His favorite wildlife subjects are the  Bald Eagles that winter near his home in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Michael has done extensive field work in Alaska , Hawaii , Arizona , Washington , Kentucky and California . Some of his past clients include:  United Parcel Service, Allstate Insurance, NASCAR, Boeing, and private collectors from as far away as Canada .
