Phil Yeh
Born October 7, 1954 in Chicago, Phil Yeh moved to New Jersey almost immediately and was drawing and making his own books before the age of six when he moved to Los Angeles for his wonder years near the Watts Towers (still his favorite one-man piece of work on this planet). Moved to Seal Beach to finish high school, started his own art studio and publishing company at age 16, his own arts newspaper (Uncle Jam) at 19 at Cal State University Long Beach and his own art gallery in Long Beach from 1976 to 1987. Formed Cartoonists Across America & The World in 1985 and has been on the road painting more than 1,800 colorful murals and ever since he has been speaking in schools, libraries, museums, conventions about the importance of the arts and the connection between the arts and literacy. Moved to Running Springs, CA, recently and is now painting away among the blue jays and the squirrels while continuing to write and illustrate his books (over 85 published in the last 39 years) and touring the world. His new series of fine art prints combine his watercolors with the unique copper lace art of Lieve Jerger, his longtime artistic partner.
