Throughout history, art has documented the existence of human civilization. From primordial times through today, our presence has been recorded in every medium imaginable. Due to the enduring and versatile qualities of ceramic objects, pottery has been a form of spiritual healing in which I feel completely human and connected with my emotions and the earth. Pottery is a universal language that can be shared and appreciated in all cultures around the globe. Although there are many ways of creating and expressing oneself, I have found my passion in clay. Sitting and turning at the wheel has become a meditative process that allows me to focus on each individual piece yet throw an abundance of different forms. My functional pottery is a product of my personal experiences in and out of the ceramic world relating to workshops and spending plenty of time in nature. I have been strongly influenced by my unique and knowledgeable instructors throughout the past 5 years, yet hold a strong appreciation and interest in the functional pottery out of Japan and England. Usefulness of objects has always been of great importance to me and I hope that you find that same feeling from my work. -Drake Lynch Bialecki
