WALT WOGEE, BIO/STATEMENT

Walter Wogee retired from 38 years of science teaching in 2008, He started his one man shop, WoodArt in 2009, He is a life long woodworker first mentored by his father and has made most of the furniture and cabinets in his log home in Skyforest. He mainly enjoys creating Sam Maloof inspired rockers out of different kinds of beautiful domestic and exotic wood. He also makes other kinds of chairs, tables, desks, and does a few special commissions. Each rocker takes about 100 hours to complete.

His work has won best wood and best in show in 2009 and 2013 at the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Art and Wine Festivals and received awards at the prestigious Design in Wood Exhibition at the San Diego County Fair in 2011, 2013, and 2014. He only does a few art shows each year and his chairs are often on exhibition at the Gallery of the American Landscape in Big Bear, CA.
