GARY GLIBBERY, BIO/STATEMENT
Gary Glibbery was born in Surrey, England and moved to Southern California with his family when he was a child. His creative passion began in grade school with scratch built model lboats. Years ago he began collecting vintage woodworking tools and was drawn to old school joinery. Working with exotic reclaimed and various types of wood combined with iron, he creates one of a kind pieces that highlight the unique characteristics of the wood. Gary’s Expertise in both Metal Fabrication and woodworking blend into a unique talent of creating sought after, popular industrial style furniture pieces.
He enjoys metal fabrication and inventing steam punk lighting that highlight “found items” and vintage style “Edison Bulbs”. Cast Iron, Copper and brass components are commonly found on Gary’s lamps, then always finished with cloth wrapped electric cords.
Known for his silhouette artwork, Gary hand draws intricate scenic designs on anything metal, from round saw blades to vintage shovels and hand saws, then plasma cuts out these designs to create one of a kind art pieces. He most recently has created large examples of this technique in impressive 60” x 96” Steel panels.
Gary draws inspiration from nature, in Twin Peaks, CA, where he now lives with his wife and daughter.
