Pamela Dawn Whitney is a California native, who recently moved back from a jaunt in Jerome Arizona where she managed their infamous Historical Society. She is a schrimshandy, jewelry and textile artist! She is married to a wonderful Artist and Chef, and shares her living space with 3 remarkable animal spirits. She started crafting jewelry in 1998 at the age of 18. It was not until she found that she could sculpt and make her own pendants that she started selling her wares in M.A.N. art shows in 2005. It was at that point that she hand-sculpted her pieces using clay, textiles, metal, and organic materials such as shells and stone. However, her heart was always devoted to the bone and ivory jewelry she has collected from other artists! She finally took the leap in 2010 to try her hand at scrimshaw: hand etched ivory that is inked to reveal the image! She now specializes in this ancient craft that grew in popularity on the whaling ships of Revolutionary America. Her love for textiles has also grown throughout the years. She is now creating a clothing line called ottieblu couture that features her unique fashion sense in one-of-a-kind purses and gypsy wraps. Pamela and her husband have opened a Gallery and Shop called Anarklectic in their beloved Crestline that features local art, jewelry, crafts, furniture, and antiques. Check them out on the weekends!!! When she moved back to the San Bernardino Mountains, she started the Crestline Art-Tiques Walk to help revitalize her favorite town and showcase local artists and shops. She is also working on starting a non-profit called Art Tribe which will provide art classes to local youth!
